We strive for the light hidden within the stars, Instead fireflies are left to die in empty jars. We wish for the sun when it is cold and dark, Instead caterpillars burn alive sitting upon the bark. We wish to own a warm and cozy wooded home, Instead the bird loses its young and lives alone.
We search for a companion, a friend whom will play, Instead the dog waits for their family to return one day. We look to increase our knowledge throughout our life, Instead the ape becomes crazed and stabs itself with a knife. We race against each other to climb the stairs to success, Instead beggars are tempted to drink to release the unbearable stress.
This is the life we hold in our hands. The ones that reach to control the sands. The sands of time, It seems a crime. True, two wrongs don’t make a right, But, where there’s a shadow, there’s always a light.
